One of the best things about living in New England is that there's no shortage of outdoor spots to take in the beauty of our state. Thankfully, you don't have to travel too far to spend a beautiful day with your dog. Here are my 5 top places to go to in the south shore.
World's End, a Trustees park
A stunning 251-acre peninsula with rolling hills, meadows, and coastal views. The carriage roads are perfect for walking dogs on leash, and the scenery overlooking Boston Harbor is beautiful. There's an entrance fee, but it's worth it for the maintained trails and dramatic landscapes.
Stoddard's Neck Dog Park
The park has earned a rating of 4.7 out of 5 bones by 23 canine critics, and is often described as "Disneyland for dogs." It's about 30 minutes southeast of Boston and makes for a perfect day trip with your pups!
Nantasket Beach
This popular beach allows leashed dogs and offers a nice mix of beach walking and nearby parkland. The promenade area is perfect for a stroll, and your dogs can enjoy both sandy and grassy areas.
Blue Hills Reservation
While technically straddling multiple areas, the southern sections offer excellent hiking opportunities. Dogs on leash can enjoy forest trails, and there are numerous access points throughout the reservation.
Duxbury Beach
A long barrier beach where leashed dogs are welcome. Your pups can experience sand and surf while you enjoy ocean views. The beach stretches for miles, giving you plenty of room to walk. Just check seasonal restrictions, as some areas may have limits during the bird nesting season.
